This wine has a bold character of its own and will delight the palate with its strawberry, cherry, and floral notes. While it is delicious and easier to drink than many young Barolos, it will deepen in character when left to age on its own for a few years.

Boglietti’s 2004 Barolo Vigna delle Brunate is terrific. It, too, is a big, weighty Barolo, yet the fruit is more layered than the Case Nere and the tannins have an additional degree of fineness. Perfumed black cherries, menthol, spices and sweet toasted oak emerge from this concentrated, richly-textured wine. With time in the glass the wine gains clarity and focus, becoming even more compelling. This is a great effort from Enzo Boglietti.

Rather orange-tinged in color, showing dried flowers and mushroom, with hints of blackberry. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a refined, pretty finish.

A single vineyard of Campofiorin we tasted recently and loved because it possesses some of the characteristics of Amarone, for which Masi is famous. Rich, almondy aroma with great depth and balance, it is a dry, rich, velvety, complex and elegant wine. Highly recommended.

A classically-built wine redolent of perfumed, sweet fruit, violets, spices, tar, new leather, menthol and herbs. This edium-bodied, firm Barolo offers outstanding elegance and purity. It is a terrific effort at this level.
